Between Qoined LLC and approved Backyarders

Backyarder Revenue Share Agreement

Last updated: July 2026
Draft — have a licensed attorney review before anyone signs.

This Agreement is between Qoined LLC, operator of backyard.bio ("backyard.bio," "we," "us"), and the individual approved to participate in the Backyarder program ("you," "Backyarder").

By accepting your Backyarder approval and accessing the Backyarder dashboard, you agree to the terms of this Agreement.

1. What the Backyarder program is

The Backyarder program allows approved individuals to host video content, maintain a public yard profile, and earn revenue on backyard.bio. Backyarders document their real outdoor spaces and share what they've learned. Their content helps members improve their own yards and contributes to measurable biodiversity improvement across the platform.

Participation in the Backyarder program is by application and approval only. Approval is at the sole discretion of Qoined LLC.

2. What you get as a Backyarder

As an approved Backyarder you receive:

A public yard profile at backyard.bio/backyarders/[your-slug] where members can discover your content, follow your yard, and purchase products you recommend.

Video hosting on the backyard.bio platform. Your videos are stored and delivered through our infrastructure. You retain ownership of your video content.

A creator dashboard showing your follower count, video views, revenue earned, and your yard's measurable impact on followers' biodiversity scores.

Revenue sharing on affiliate purchases driven by your content, as described in Section 3.

Audience ownership. The followers you build on backyard.bio are yours in the sense that we will never sell their data or share their contact information with third parties. If you leave the program, we will provide you with an export of your follower count and aggregate engagement data.

3. How revenue sharing works

What generates revenue:

When a member of backyard.bio purchases a product through an affiliate link after:

  • Watching one of your videos
  • Visiting your public yard profile
  • Clicking a product you have personally recommended

...that sale is attributed to you and generates a Backyarder commission.

Attribution window:

A sale is attributed to you if it occurs within 48 hours of a member interacting with your content or profile. If a member interacts with multiple Backyarder profiles before purchasing, attribution goes to the most recent interaction.

Commission split:

backyard.bio earns an affiliate commission from the retailer (Amazon, Bookshop.org, American Meadows, etc.) on each qualifying sale.

You earn 40% of backyard.bio's affiliate commission on sales attributed to you.

Example: A member watches your video about bird baths and purchases a solar dripper on Amazon. Amazon pays backyard.bio a 4% commission on the sale ($3.00 on a $75 product). You earn 40% of that commission: $1.20.

The remaining 60% covers platform operations, hosting, payment processing, and continued development.

What is not commissionable:

  • Sales that occur more than 48 hours after interaction with your content
  • Sales driven by backyard.bio's own editorial content rather than your specific profile or videos
  • Returns, refunds, or cancelled orders
  • Sales attributed to another Backyarder under the attribution rules above

4. Payment

Minimum payout threshold: $25. Earnings accumulate until they reach $25, at which point they are paid out in the following payment cycle.

Payment schedule: Monthly, within 15 days of the end of the calendar month.

Payment method: Bank transfer (ACH) to the account you provide in your dashboard. We do not pay by check or PayPal.

Tax information: You are responsible for reporting and paying taxes on revenue you earn through the Backyarder program. Qoined LLC will issue a 1099-NEC for any Backyarder who earns $600 or more in a calendar year. You must provide accurate tax information (name, address, SSN or EIN) through your dashboard before your first payment can be processed.

5. Your content

You own it. Videos you upload, descriptions you write, and photos you share remain your property. By uploading content to backyard.bio you grant Qoined LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, stream, and promote that content on the backyard.bio platform and in marketing materials.

We may feature it. We may feature your content on the home page, in newsletters, or in member dashboards. We will always credit you by name.

You can take it down. You can delete your videos and content at any time through your dashboard. Deleted content will be removed from the platform within 48 hours.

Standards. Your content must be accurate, genuine, and related to your real outdoor space. You may not:

  • Post content you don't own the rights to
  • Make false claims about products
  • Post sponsored content without clearly disclosing it as such
  • Post anything that violates backyard.bio's Terms of Service

6. Product recommendations

Products you recommend on your profile must be things you genuinely use or believe in. You may not recommend products solely for commission purposes or accept payment from manufacturers or retailers to recommend their products through your backyard.bio profile.

If you receive free products from a manufacturer, you must disclose that in your content — for example, "I received this bird bath at no cost to review." This is required by FTC guidelines and by this Agreement.

You may recommend any products available through backyard.bio's affiliate programs. You may also recommend products that backyard.bio does not currently carry — we will work to add them to our affiliate inventory.

7. Your yard score

As a Backyarder your biodiversity score is public on your profile. Members can see it as a benchmark. You are encouraged to update your score regularly as your yard improves — it is part of what makes your profile valuable to members.

8. The impact dashboard

Your Backyarder dashboard shows estimated impact metrics — members who improved their score after watching your content, acres of habitat attributed to your followers' actions, native plants added, new species spotted in followers' yards.

These metrics are estimates based on follower activity data. They are provided for your information and motivation. They are not guaranteed to be perfectly precise and should not be represented to third parties as audited figures.

9. Exclusivity

This Agreement is non-exclusive. You may post content on YouTube, Instagram, or any other platform simultaneously. You may participate in other affiliate programs. We only ask that content you host on backyard.bio is genuine and consistent with what you share elsewhere — don't post content on backyard.bio that contradicts what you say on other platforms.

10. Term and termination

This Agreement begins when you accept your Backyarder approval and continues until terminated.

You may leave the program at any time by deleting your Backyarder profile or emailing hello@backyard.bio. Outstanding commissions earned before termination will be paid in the next regular payment cycle.

We may terminate your Backyarder status if you violate these terms, violate backyard.bio's Terms of Service, or if we discontinue the Backyarder program. We will give you 30 days written notice unless the violation is severe (fraud, illegal content, etc.) in which case termination may be immediate.

If the program ends: If Qoined LLC discontinues the Backyarder program entirely, we will give all active Backyarders 60 days notice and pay all outstanding commissions before closing.

11. Relationship between the parties

You are an independent contractor, not an employee of Qoined LLC. This Agreement does not create an employment relationship, partnership, or joint venture. You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and business expenses.

12. Limitation of liability

Qoined LLC's total liability to you under this Agreement is limited to the commissions earned but not yet paid at the time of any dispute.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or speculative damages — including lost future earnings if your account is suspended or the program ends.

13. Changes to this agreement

We may update the commission rate or other terms of this Agreement with 60 days written notice to active Backyarders. If you don't agree to the new terms you may leave the program before the changes take effect and receive all outstanding commissions.

14. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the state where Qoined LLC is incorporated.

15. The whole agreement

This Agreement, together with backyard.bio's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and Qoined LLC regarding the Backyarder program. It supersedes any prior conversations or representations.
